I have been using this app for about a month now, and I have to say I was a bit disappointed by it after all the great marketing. I still intend to continue using it, at least for the six months I’ve subscribed to, but I’m not sure I’ll continue after that without some improvements. I really do like this program and want to see it succeed, so here is some detailed feedback that I hope will help make things more user friendly.
1. App design
The app is just the website, shrunken down to fit an iPhone, and nothing more. The calendar and data entry parts are okay, but it’s difficult to read the chart because the text is so small and thin, and it’s not possible to adjust anything to make it more comfortable to read. The app should be redesigned to be a lot more user friendly.
2. Community and more information
I feel like the team has put a huge amount of time on marketing this, and they did a great job of that. However, it feels like it’s really lacking things once you sign up. Fertility is complex and scary, and it’s not easy to just close your eyes and trust an app. It’s also important to use the program perfectly in order to get accurate results, and life is not as straightforward as “getting a solid 8 hours of sleep and waking up at the same time every morning”. This program really needs a public forum where we can chat with others who have used the app and hear about their experiences, and it needs more resources to get additional information on exactly what is going on in your body during its cycles so we can learn the finer points of fertility management. The basics are well explained on the website, but I still found myself with many more questions that were not fully answered there, or when I contacted support.
3. Support could be better
I have emailed support with a few questions and while the responses were quick, I almost always had to reply back and repeat the question because I didn’t really receive an answer for exactly what I asked, or they only responded to part of it. The first replies were just info from the FAQ which I had already read. When I asked about forums (which have been mentioned before in their blog as “for our users’ eyes only” but don’t actually appear anywhere), I didn’t get a response at all.
4. Login on the website
It would be nice if there was a “remember me” button on the website so I don’t have to type out my whole email address and password each time.
5. Alerts and nighttime reading
I find it challenging to remember to take my temp immediately when I wake up, before getting out of bed. As a result I have missed a number of days and have only had red days since I started, because the app doesn’t have enough info. I do often look at my phone when I first wake up, so it would be nice if there was some kind of built in reminder (e.g. when the phone is first moved in the morning, a notification pops up). Also, the bright white background is hard on the eyes first thing in the morning when it’s still dark. It would be nice if there was an option to turn on “night mode” for reading, or something like that.
Overall this app is okay and it seems promising, but I would love to see at least some of these improvements before I decide whether or not I will continue using this program. You have the marketing part well covered, now you need to follow through and make sure the user experience lives up to the expectations.
